High Performance Alloys stocks and produces Inconel 600 in bar, wire cuts, sheet, plate, strip, tube, and pipe forms.
Inconel 600 is a nickel-chromium alloy designed for use from cryogenic to elevated temperatures up to 2000°F (1093°C). The alloy offers excellent oxidation resistance at high temperatures with good performance in carburizing and chloride-containing environments.
The high nickel content (72.0% min) provides resistance under reducing conditions and makes it resistant to corrosion by numerous organic and inorganic compounds. This composition also delivers excellent resistance to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking and alkaline solutions.
The chromium content (14.0-17.0%) provides resistance to sulfur compounds and various oxidizing environments. Alloy 600 is relatively unaffected by most neutral and alkaline salt solutions and performs well in caustic environments, steam, and mixtures of steam, air, and carbon dioxide.
- Resistant to a wide range of corrosive media
- Virtually immune to chlorine ion stress corrosion cracking
- Demonstrates adequate resistance to organic acids (acetic, formic, stearic)
- Excellent resistance to dry gases including chlorine and hydrogen chloride up to 550°C
- Good scaling resistance and high strength at elevated temperatures
- Resists ammonia-bearing atmospheres, nitrogen, and carburizing gases
- Non-magnetic with excellent mechanical properties
- Good workability and readily weldable
- Thermocouple sheaths
- Ethylene dichloride (EDC) cracking tubes
- Conversion of uranium dioxide to tetrafluoride
- Production of caustic alkalis, particularly with sulfur compounds
- Reactor vessels and heat exchanger tubing for vinyl chloride production
- Process equipment for chlorinated and fluorinated hydrocarbons
- Nuclear reactor components (control rod guide tubes, steam generator baffle plates)
- Furnace retort seals, fans, and fixtures
- Roller hearths and radiant tubes in carbon nitriding processes
