17CrNiMo6/1.6587 steel is a heat-treatable, low-alloy steel containing nickel, chromium, and molybdenum according to DIN Germany standard. Known for its toughness and ability to develop high strength in heat-treated conditions while maintaining good fatigue strength.

Heat Treatment Processes
Normalizing
- Nominal normalizing temperature: 840-890°C
- Hold the temperature for several hours
- Cooling in the air
Annealing
- Nominal annealing temperature: 630-650°C
- Cool slowly in the furnace
- Maximum Brinell hardness of 229
Hardening and Tempering (QT)
- Nominal hardening temperature: 830-865°C
- Hold at this temperature then quench in oil
- Temper as soon as possible when temperature lowers to ambient temperature
- Heat the steel carefully to a suitable temperature selected by reference to a tempering chart or table
- The usual tempering temperature is 600°C depending on actual requirements
- Keep the material out of the furnace, then cool in the air
Mechanical Properties (Reference Only)
- Tensile strength: 980-1270MPa
- Yield point: 780MPa
- Percentage reduction of area after fracture: 40%
- Elongation after fracture: 11%
- Impact test (+20°C): Longitud - 45~50J
