About Duplex 2304 Stainless Steel Rebar
Stainless steel is categorized into martensitic, ferritic, austenitic, duplex stainless steel, and precipitation hardening stainless steel. Among these, duplex stainless steel is the most suitable for concrete structures. Duplex stainless steel contains both ferritic and austenitic phases, offering exceptional mechanical properties and resistance to chloride stress corrosion.
Over the past decade, advancements in duplex stainless steel smelting technology have reduced costs while improving performance, making stainless steel reinforcement increasingly viable for construction applications.
Common duplex stainless steel grades include 2205 and 2304, with 2304 being the most widely used for concrete structures. Containing 23% chromium and 4% nickel, 2304 forms a self-healing chromium-rich oxide film that ensures strong corrosion resistance. Its yield strength reaches 600MPa after processing, with excellent performance in elongation and elastic modulus. Additionally, 2304 is more cost-effective than 2205 and 316, offering better lifecycle cost efficiency while reducing dependency on nickel and molybdenum resources.
