Material Description
17-4PH (Type 630) is a precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steel with chromium-copper composition, offering high strength and moderate corrosion resistance. Mechanical properties can be optimized through heat treatment, achieving yield strength up to 1100-1300 MPa.

Heat Treatment
Solution treatment at 1040°C for 0.5 hours followed by air cooling. Age hardening at various temperatures achieves desired mechanical properties with typical shrinkage of 0.10% for H1150 condition and 0.05% for H900 condition.
Machining & Welding
Can be machined in solution-treated condition with rates similar to grade 304 stainless steel. Welding can be performed using all conventional methods without pre-heating requirements.
