Types of Stainless Steel Beams
I Beam
The most common beam in our inventory. The I-beam's center web can only be rolled as much as a mill's equipment can handle (5/8″). The I-Beam is lighter in weight, making it ideal for frequent use. Manufactured as a solid piece of metal throughout, it is rolled and produced from a single component.
H Beam
The H-Beam offers superior strength compared to the I-beam, though it requires more intensive manufacturing processes. Instead of being rolled as one piece, an H-Beam consists of three individually created sections welded together. This construction method allows each portion to be significantly stronger, as the milling equipment reinforces the material three times. Overall, the H-Beam is heavier than the I-beam and can withstand greater force and pressure.
