Manufacturing Processes
Forging
Hot forming temperature: 1150-850°C
Machinability
Machining is performed prior to carburizing to achieve close tolerances. After heat treatment, finish machining is minimized to preserve the hardened case. Conventional machining methods are suitable prior to heat treatment.
Welding
Conventional gas or arc welding methods are suitable. Preheating at 200°C is beneficial, with subsequent heating recommended after welding.
Cold Working
Cold working is performed in the annealed condition using conventional methods, completed to close tolerances before heat treatment.
Applications
Widely used in transmission systems, tractor motors, and small-to-medium automotive applications. Suitable for high-class carburization and cyanide carburizing parts including oil drilling equipment, mining claws, and cones.
Common applications include carburized gears, pinions, shafts, bearings, piston rings, ring gears, crankshafts, and other components requiring hard carburized cases with tough cores.
Available Sizes
