Grade 321 / 321H Stainless Steel Overview
321 stainless steel is a titanium stabilized grade designed for service in the 1000-1600°F temperature range. For optimal resistance to intergranular corrosion and polythionic acid stress corrosion cracking, a stabilizing treatment at 1550-1650°F with air cooling is recommended for service temperatures up to 1600°F.
This grade is readily weldable using all common methods including submerged arc welding. Recommended weld fillers include AWS ER347 bare wire and E347 covered electrodes. With a machinability rating of 45% relative to AISI B1112, 321 stainless offers similar machinability to 304 stainless steel.
