34CrNiMo6 / 1.6582 Steel Overview

34CrNiMo6 / 1.6582 steel is a heat-treatable, low alloy steel designed for a wide range of engineering applications. This material delivers excellent mechanical properties with typical tensile strength of 1000-1200 N/mm², combined with superior ductility and shock resistance. Its exceptional hardenability allows for medium tensile strengths in large sections, while providing excellent wear resistance and impact properties at low temperatures.

The material offers excellent machinability, enabling components to be put into service without additional treatment costs. It can be supplied in annealed condition for enhanced machinability or in hardened and tempered condition with hardness of 28-34HRC.

Heat Treatment Process

Quenched and Tempered (Q+T) of 34CrNiMo6 Steel

Heat 34CrNiMo6 round steel slowly to 850°C
Soak at hardening temperature and quench in oil
Temper immediately after reaching room temperature
Heat uniformly to suitable tempering temperature
Withdraw from furnace and cool in air
Standard tempering temperature: 600°C (adjustable per requirements)

Additional Processing Information

Forging: Hot forming temperature: 1100-900°C

Machinability: Optimal machining achieved in annealed or normalized and tempered condition. Compatible with all conventional machining methods.

Welding: Suitable for fusion or resistance welding. Requires preheat and post-heat procedures following established welding methods.
