About Type 301 Stainless Steel
Type 301 is an austenitic stainless steel that achieves high strength and ductility through cold working. Similar to type 201 steel, 301 is non-magnetic in the annealed state but becomes increasingly magnetic with cold working. The higher carbon and lower nickel content provides excellent drawing and forming characteristics, though this slightly reduces corrosion resistance compared to Type 304.
