About Type 301 Stainless Steel
Type 301 stainless steel is an austenitic alloy that achieves high strength and ductility through cold working. Similar to type 201 steel, 301 is non-magnetic in the annealed state but becomes increasingly magnetic with cold working.
This steel features higher carbon and lower nickel content, which supports excellent drawing and forming characteristics while slightly compromising corrosion resistance compared to Type 304. A secondary annealing process can restore corrosion resistance at weld or laser cut edges.
