25Cr2MoVA / DIN 1.8159 Alloy Steel Round Bar – Hot Rolled, Ø20–350mm, Standard 6m Length | High-Temperature Strength for Power & Petrochemical Applications

Product Overview

Our 25Cr2MoVA (equivalent to DIN 1.8159) alloy steel round bar is a premium-grade, chromium-molybdenum-vanadium low-alloy steel engineered for exceptional mechanical strength and long-term stability at elevated temperatures—up to 550°C (1022°F). Supplied in hot-rolled condition with diameters ranging from 20 mm to 350 mm and standard 6-meter lengths, this material is ideal for critical components in power generation, oil & gas, heavy machinery, and high-pressure systems.
While 25Cr2MoVA is the Chinese designation per GB/T 3077, its chemical and mechanical profile closely aligns with the European DIN 1.8159 (25CrMoV6-4) specification, making it a globally recognized solution for demanding engineering applications requiring superior creep resistance, fatigue strength, and hardenability.
All bars are produced under strict quality control, fully traceable by heat number, and available with EN 10204 3.1/3.2 mill test reports upon request.

Key Advantages

✅ High tensile & yield strength even after prolonged exposure to high temperatures
✅ Excellent anti-creep properties – maintains integrity under stress at 510–550°C
✅ Good hardenability due to synergistic Cr-Mo-V microalloying
✅ Suitable for nitriding – achieves surface hardness up to 600–700 HV for wear resistance
✅ Hot-rolled finish – cost-effective for large-diameter stock; ready for further machining or forging
✅ Standard 6m length – optimizes logistics and reduces handling costs
✅ Full compliance with GB/T 3077 and functional equivalence to DIN 1.8159

Typical Applications

  • Steam turbine bolts, nuts, and studs (main steam lines, casing fasteners)
  • High-pressure valve stems and spindles
  • Rotor shafts, sleeves, and couplings in thermal power plants
  • Critical fasteners in petrochemical reactors and refineries
  • Forging blanks for gears, axles, and structural components requiring post-heat treatment

Chemical Composition (GB/T 3077 & DIN 1.8159 Comparison)

Phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.035% ≤ 0.025%
Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.035% ≤ 0.025%
Note: Minor differences exist in V and residual element limits, but performance in service is functionally equivalent.

Mechanical Properties (After Recommended Q&T: 900°C Oil Quench + 640°C Temper)

Property Minimum Value
Tensile Strength (Rm) ≥ 930 MPa
Yield Strength (Rp0.2) ≥ 785 MPa
Elongation (A5) ≥ 14%
Reduction of Area (Z) ≥ 55%

Processing & Fabrication Guidance

  • Machining: Best performed after annealing or high-temp tempering (HB ≤ 240). Use rigid setups and sharp carbide tools.
  • Heat Treatment:
    • Normalizing: 880–910°C, air cool
    • Quenching: 880–910°C, oil quench
    • Tempering: 600–660°C, rapid air cooling through 550–450°C to avoid temper brittleness
  • Nitriding: Achieves case depth of 0.3–0.6 mm with surface hardness >600 HV—ideal for valve stems and wear parts.
  • Forging: Recommended temperature range: 1150–850°C; avoid forging below 800°C.
