Material Description
CD4MCu is an Fe-Cr-Ni-Cu-Mo alloy with a duplex structure of ferrite and austenite. This unique composition provides moderately high strength and hardness combined with excellent ductility and impact properties, resulting in superior resistance to abrasion and erosion-corrosion.
CD4MCu offers significantly better stress/corrosive cracking resistance and reduced pitting compared to standard stainless steel. With higher strength and enhanced durability, this alloy combines outstanding corrosion resistance with nearly twice the strength of many stainless types. It can be age-hardened to increase its Brinell Hardness Number (BHN).
This alloy has proven particularly useful in sulphuric acid environments and seawater applications. It resists abrasive wear and galling, can be readily machined, and is weldable without preheating. Also known as MTEK 29M.
