Alloy 347/347H Overview
Alloy 347 (S34700) is a stabilized stainless steel that provides excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion after exposure to temperatures between 800°F to 1500°F (427°C to 816°C). The alloy is stabilized by columbium and tantalum additions.
Alloy 347H stainless steel offers enhanced creep resistance and higher strength at temperatures above 1000°F (537°C) due to its higher carbon content (0.04-0.10).
Key Properties
General Characteristics
  • Columbium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel
  • Excellent intergranular corrosion resistance
  • Good oxidation resistance and creep strength up to 1500°F (816°C)
  • Enhanced performance in strongly oxidizing environments
  • Good low-temperature toughness
  • Cannot be hardened by heat treatment, only by cold working
Corrosion Resistance
  • Superior to Alloy 321 in strongly oxidizing environments up to 1500°F (816°C)
  • Suitable for nitric solutions and diluted organic acids
  • Resists polythionic acid stress corrosion cracking in hydrocarbon service
  • Not recommended for chloride solutions or sulfuric acid applications
