Product Description
254SMo Stainless Steel Tubes & Bars
254SMo is an austenitic stainless steel specifically developed for use in halide-containing environments such as seawater. This steel demonstrates superior performance particularly in halide-containing acids while also providing excellent resistance to uniform corrosion. With carbon content below 0.02%, it qualifies as pure austenitic stainless steel, and when carbon content falls below 0.01%, it can be classified as super austenitic stainless steel.
Key Features of 254SMo Stainless Steel
As a super stainless steel, 254SMo represents a high-alloy stainless steel containing elevated levels of nickel, chromium, and molybdenum. The 6% molybdenum content provides exceptional local corrosion resistance, including excellent resistance to pitting corrosion (PI ≥ 40) and stress corrosion in demanding conditions like seawater, aeration, gap environments, and low-speed scouring. This makes it a viable alternative to nickel-based alloys and titanium alloys.
- Superior high-temperature and corrosion resistance compared to standard 304 stainless steel
- Stable austenitic metallurgical structure for consistent performance
- High crevice corrosion resistance in seawater, even at elevated temperatures
- Strong corrosion resistance in acidic solutions and oxidizing halide solutions
- Enhanced mechanical strength due to high nitrogen content
- High ductility, impact strength, and excellent weldability
