About 904L Stainless Steel

Grade 904L stainless steel is a non-stabilized austenitic stainless steel with low carbon content. This high alloy stainless steel contains added copper to improve resistance to strong reducing acids like sulphuric acid. The steel offers excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and crevice corrosion.

904L stainless steel is non-magnetic and provides excellent formability, toughness, and weldability. While containing high amounts of expensive ingredients like molybdenum and nickel, many applications previously using 904L are now served by cost-effective duplex stainless steel 2205.
