317L (00Cr19Ni13Mo3, UNS S31726) is a molybdenum-based austenitic stainless steel alloy that offers superior chemical corrosion resistance compared to conventional chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steels like 304 alloy. This low-carbon (L-grade) material provides enhanced ductility, stress corrosion resistance, compressive strength, and high-temperature performance while resisting sensitization during welding and heat treatment processes.

Primary Applications

Compared to 316L, 317L steel demonstrates excellent water resistance and superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC), making it ideal for chemical ships, chemical products, reactors, and other chemical equipment requiring high corrosion resistance.
