Product Description
SS 316L Plate ASTM A240 AISI 316L Stainless Steel Plate
SS 316L PLATE ASTM A240 316L Stainless Steel Plate NO.1 Finished 2000mm Width.
In ASTM A240, type 316 and 316L is a chromium nickel austenitic steel. The addition
of molybdenum enhances corrosion resistance, making 316/316L more corrosion resistant
than 304/304L. While 316L steel has lower carbon content, its strength is only slightly
higher than 316 steel. Grade 316L can be used for weld treatment due to its lower carbon content.
316/316L steel offers outstanding corrosion resistant properties in both atmospheric
and oxidizing environments, including marine atmospheres, even in welded state.
Typically non-magnetic in annealed condition, cold drawing or cold rolling processes
may introduce slight magnetism, which can be corrected with further processing.
Applications of ASTM A240 316/316L
316/316L plate is used to manufacture products for applications exposed to salt water,
acids such as sulfuric acid and chloride, petrochemicals, chemicals, and high-heat
environments such as engines and motors.
- Tanks
- Supports and frames
- Enclosures and housings
- Engine, motor and machinery components and parts
