Corrosion Resistance
254 SMO stainless steel demonstrates excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion due to its high chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen content. The very low carbon content minimizes risk of carbide precipitation during heating. This alloy maintains exceptional performance in chloride-containing environments, including seawater, making it suitable for prolonged exposure without suffering from crevice corrosion.
Industry Applications
  • Ocean: Marine structures, seawater desalination, marine aquaculture, seawater heat exchange
  • Environmental Protection: Flue gas desulfurization, wastewater treatment
  • Energy: Nuclear power generation, coal utilization, wave power generation
  • Petrochemical Industry: Refining and chemical equipment
  • Food Industry: Salt production, soy sauce brewing
  • Paper Industry: Various bleaching devices in high chloride environments
