Product Overview
Alloy 409 is a general-purpose, chromium, titanium-stabilized, ferritic stainless steel primarily used in automotive exhaust systems. With 11% chromium content—the minimum required for forming the passive surface film that provides corrosion resistance—this alloy combines excellent elevated temperature corrosion resistance with medium strength, good formability, and overall cost-effectiveness. 409L stainless steel offers superior corrosion resistance compared to carbon steel and serves as an ideal alternative in mildly challenging environments where corrosion resistance and high-temperature oxidation properties are advantageous.
