316L Annealed Pickled Welded Stainless Steel Pipes

Grade 316L is the low carbon version of 316 stainless steel, immune from sensitization (grain boundary carbide precipitation). This makes it extensively used in heavy gauge welded components (over about 6mm). The austenitic structure provides excellent toughness, even down to cryogenic temperatures.

Difference Between 316 and 316L Stainless Steel

316 and 316L stainless steels are molybdenum-containing stainless steels. 316L stainless steel has slightly higher molybdenum content than 316 stainless steel, providing better overall performance compared to 310 and 304 stainless steel. 316 stainless steel offers good resistance to chloride attack, making it suitable for marine environments. 316L stainless steel has a maximum carbon content of 0.03%, making it ideal for applications that cannot be annealed after welding and require maximum corrosion resistance.
