Product Description
NPS 1 Inch (O.D. 33.4mm) x Sch. 40 x 6M Alloy 254 (Stainless 6Mo - UNS S31254) Pipe
254SMo is an austenitic stainless steel specifically developed for use in halide-containing environments such as seawater. This steel demonstrates superior performance particularly in halide-containing acids and offers excellent resistance to uniform corrosion. With carbon content below 0.02%, it is classified as pure austenitic stainless steel, and when carbon content is below 0.01%, it qualifies as super austenitic stainless steel.
Features of Inox 254SMo
Super stainless steel represents a specialized category of stainless steel. Unlike conventional stainless steels, 254SMo is a high-alloy stainless steel containing elevated levels of nickel, chromium, and molybdenum. The most notable characteristic is its 6% molybdenum content, which provides exceptional local corrosion resistance.
  • Excellent resistance to pitting corrosion (PI ≥ 40) and stress corrosion in harsh environments including seawater, aeration, gaps, and low-speed scouring
  • Suitable replacement for nickel-based alloys and titanium alloys in many applications
  • Superior high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance compared to 304 stainless steel
  • Stable austenitic metallurgical structure ensures reliable performance
  • High crevice corrosion resistance in seawater, even at elevated temperatures
  • Strong corrosion resistance in acidic solutions and oxidizing halide solutions comparable to nickel-based alloys and titanium
  • Enhanced mechanical strength due to high nitrogen content
  • High ductility, impact strength, and excellent weldability
