254SMo is an austenitic stainless steel specifically developed for use in halide-containing environments such as seawater. This steel demonstrates superior performance particularly in halide-containing acids and features excellent resistance to uniform corrosion. With carbon content below 0.02%, it qualifies as pure austenitic stainless steel, and when carbon content is less than 0.01%, it can be classified as super austenitic stainless steel.
- High-alloy stainless steel containing elevated nickel, chromium, and molybdenum content
- 6% molybdenum content provides exceptional local corrosion resistance
- Excellent resistance to pitting corrosion (PI ≥ 40) and stress corrosion in harsh conditions
- Suitable replacement for nickel-based alloys and titanium alloys
- Superior high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance compared to 304 stainless steel
- Stable austenitic metallurgical structure
- High crevice corrosion resistance in seawater, even at elevated temperatures
- Strong corrosion resistance in acidic solutions and oxidizing halide solutions
- Enhanced mechanical strength due to high nitrogen content
- High ductility, impact strength, and excellent weldability
