Duplex Stainless Steel 2205 Seamless Tube
Duplex Steel 2205 Seamless Tube is a nitrogen-enhanced duplex stainless steel engineered to address common corrosion challenges encountered with 300 series stainless steels. The "duplex" classification refers to stainless steels that combine both austenitic and ferritic microstructures. In 2205 duplex stainless steel, austenite pools are surrounded by a continuous ferrite phase, with approximately 40-50% ferrite in the annealed condition. As the most widely used grade in the duplex family, 2205 is often considered the workhorse alloy.
The duplex structure combines the beneficial properties of ferritic alloys (stress corrosion cracking resistance and high strength) with those of austenitic alloys (manufacturing ease and corrosion resistance). For optimal performance, 2205 Duplex stainless steel should be limited to temperatures below 600°F, as prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures can cause embrittlement.
