S32205 Stainless Steel Tube 2205 Duplex Steel Seamless Tubing
Duplex Steel 2205 Seamless Tube is a nitrogen-improved duplex stainless steel specifically engineered to address common corrosion issues encountered with 300 series stainless steels. The "duplex" classification refers to stainless steels that combine both austenitic and ferritic microstructures. In the annealed condition, 2205 contains approximately 40-50% ferrite, making it the most widely used grade in the duplex stainless steel family.
The duplex structure combines the beneficial properties of ferritic alloys (stress corrosion cracking resistance and high strength) with those of austenitic alloys (ease of fabrication and corrosion resistance). Use of 2205 Duplex stainless steel should be limited to temperatures below 600°F, as prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures can cause embrittlement.
