Material Description: S31254 F44 1.4547 254SMo Stainless Steel

254SMO is a high-performance austenitic stainless steel with exceptional corrosion resistance. The high molybdenum, chromium, and nitrogen content provides excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Copper addition enhances acid corrosion resistance, while high nickel content ensures good stress corrosion cracking resistance.

Metallurgical Properties

254SMO features a face-centered cubic lattice structure, achieving austenitic structure through annealing at 1150-1200°C. The material maintains excellent impact strength and corrosion resistance despite potential metal mesophase presence.

Corrosion Performance

With very low carbon content, 254SMO minimizes carbide precipitation risk. It demonstrates superior resistance in chloride, bromide, and iodide environments compared to standard stainless steels. Performance exceeds 316 stainless steel in sulfuric acid and shows excellent capability in diluted hydrochloric acid and fluorosilicic acid applications.
