Product Overview

Hastelloy X, also known as UNS N06002 or Alloy X, is a nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum alloy specifically designed for extreme temperature and corrosive environments. This solid solution strengthened nickel-base superalloy delivers exceptional oxidation resistance and high-temperature strength, making it an ideal choice for aerospace, industrial furnace, and chemical processing applications. Our Hastelloy X round bars are manufactured to strict quality standards and available for custom cutting to meet your specific project requirements.

Our Hastelloy X round bars maintain excellent strength in oxidizing atmospheres up to 1200°C (2200°F) and in reducing atmospheres up to 980°C (1800°F), with outstanding resistance to sulfidation, carburization, and other high-temperature degradation processes. The alloy exhibits good fabrication characteristics, including weldability and formability, allowing for versatile manufacturing possibilities across various industries.

Production Process

Manufacturing Excellence

Our Hastelloy X round bars are produced using advanced metallurgical processes including Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) or Vacuum Induction Melting plus Electroslag Remelting (VIM + ESR) to ensure precise chemical composition control, reduced gas content, and elimination of harmful impurities . Hot Working

The hot working process for Hastelloy X involves heating the material to 1170°C ±10°C for forging, with final forging temperature not lower than 950°C . This controlled thermomechanical processing ensures optimal grain structure and mechanical properties in the final product.

All Hastelloy X round bars undergo rigorous testing including ultrasonic inspection, dimensional accuracy checks, surface quality assessment, mechanical property testing, and chemical composition verification to guarantee compliance with international standards .

Fabrication Characteristics

Machining and Forming

Hastelloy X exhibits good machinability in the solution annealed condition using conventional methods, though it requires more power than machining stainless steels. The alloy can be cold formed using standard techniques, with intermediate annealing recommended for severe deformation .

Welding

Hastelloy X offers excellent welding characteristics and can be readily joined using Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG), and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) methods. For TIG welding, matching filler metals such as HHastelloyX or HGH3113 welding wire are recommended .

Heat Treatment

Optimal properties are achieved through solution treatment at 1175°C ±15°C followed by rapid cooling . For stress relief after machining or welding, heat treatment at 870°C ±10°C for 30-60 minutes with air cooling is recommended.
