316L Round Bar is made from a low-carbon version of the 316-grade stainless steel alloy. It has a maximum carbon content of only 0.03%, compared to 0.08% for 316-grade stainless steel. 316L stainless steel round bar has better corrosion resistance and is more suitable for high-temperature applications. It also has better resistance to intergranular corrosion. Due to physical properties such as excellent weldability and higher corrosion resistance, 316L stainless steel round bar is widely used in pharmaceutical and food processing equipment. They are also used in construction and marine applications.
316L stainless steel electrodes are widely used in large-gauge welding applications. This is because the stick is not prone to perish due to its chemical composition. The low carbon content helps reduce carbide precipitation, which sensitizes weld grain boundaries in these materials.
AMS 5653 is the AMS number for SS 316L material. It is also known for other specifications such as UNS S31600. It is a heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant alloy widely used in several industries. The low carbon content in the alloy improves its weldability and corrosion resistance.
