EN 1.4828 is a heat resistant Cr-Ni-Si stainless steel with increased levels of Silicon as compared to type 309S. Its high chromium & nickel contents along with silicon provide superior resistance to oxidation & good strength at both room and elevated temperatures.
Heat-resistant steel 1.4828 is an austenitic chromium-nickel-silicon stainless steel that is resistant to oxidation in air up to a temperature of 950 °C. H20N12S2 has a similar chemical composition to X15CrNiSi25-21, 1.4841.
The materials described are characterized by a relatively low content of chromium and nickel in the chemical composition. Common feature is the same content of silicon and carbon. The decision on the choice of grade is determined by the price based on the content of alloying additives and the degree of aggressiveness of the working environment of the earth element. The grade 1.4828 can function up to a maximum temperature of 1100 - 1150 °C.
The material 1.4828 is resistant to nitriding, carbonitriding, carburizing atmospheres, brittleness when operating at high temperatures and gases containing nitrogen and oxygen.
