Material Description
654SMO (S32654, 1.4652) super austenitic stainless steel is a premium alloy containing 23% nickel, 25% chromium and 7% molybdenum, offering significantly superior corrosion resistance compared to ordinary austenitic steels.
This high-molybdenum steel presents manufacturing challenges during seamless pipe perforation due to its hard, sticky nature, which can lead to eccentricity or cracking. Our specialized center-perforation process followed by cold rolling or cold drawing ensures high success rates despite increased production costs.
654SMO demonstrates exceptional local corrosion resistance with superior pitting and stress corrosion resistance in seawater, aeration, gaps, and low-speed erosion conditions. It serves as an effective alternative to nickel-based alloys and titanium alloys, outperforming 904L and 254SMO in high temperature and corrosion resistance applications.
