Hastelloy C-22 Alloy Characteristics
HASTELLOY Alloy C-22 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy offering enhanced resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. Its unique composition resists grain boundary precipitate formation in weld-heat affected zones, making it suitable for as-welded applications.
C-22 demonstrates outstanding performance in both reducing and oxidizing media, providing reliable operation during process upsets. The alloy offers excellent weldability and high corrosion resistance as consumable filler wires and electrodes, serving as an effective filler wire where other corrosion-resistant materials have failed.
The alloy's ductility facilitates cold-working operations, though it requires more energy than austenitic stainless steels due to its stiffer nature. Heat-treated 0.28" thick sheet exhibits an average olsen cup depth of 0.49".
