Material Features

Grade 904L stainless steel is a non-stabilized austenitic stainless steel with low carbon content. This high alloy stainless steel contains copper to improve resistance to strong reducing acids such as sulphuric acid. The material offers excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and crevice corrosion. Grade 904L is non-magnetic and provides superior formability, toughness, and weldability.

Fabrication Characteristics

Grade 904L stainless steels are high purity materials with low sulphur content, suitable for machining using standard methods. These grades can be readily cold-bent to small radii. While subsequent annealing is typically unnecessary, it should be performed when fabrication occurs under severe stress corrosion cracking conditions.
